KAMINEKO
Support page for the iOS app "Cube Chess". Below are the basics and answers to common questions.
The board is a 5×5×5 cube, and pieces move up and down as well. You do not need to know flat chess. Tap "How to play" on the title screen and Professor Mono will teach you from the beginning. There is also a "Piece Gym" where you learn each piece's moves by touching the board.
Choose "New game" to play against the AI. Your first three games use a smaller 4×4×4 board with fewer trades, so a first win is within reach. If it still feels hard, change the difficulty, board size or handicap in Settings.
"Challenge Tower" is a seven-floor story mode. Each floor has a keeper who is stronger than the last. Winning lights that floor's lamp.
"How to play" on the title screen walks you through everything from the start. If you only want to learn how the pieces move, open "Piece Gym" under "Puzzles" and try each of the seven piece types. During a game, the "Hint" button will suggest a move.
Set "Difficulty" to "Easy" in Settings. If it is still hard, use "Handicap" to remove some of the opponent's pieces. Your first three games also use a smaller 4×4×4 board, tuned so that a new player can win.
No. This version has no in-app purchases. Every feature is available for free.
To keep the app free, a banner may appear at the bottom of the screen, and a full-screen ad may appear between games. After a game you may also see an optional button, "Watch a video for +N hint tickets". Only players who tap it watch a video; you can finish the whole game without ever doing so.
Yes. Games, puzzles and the tower all run on your device, so they work without a connection. An internet connection is used only to show ads.
We are sorry — there is no account system, so progress cannot be transferred between devices. Your records, unlocked themes and tower progress are stored only on your device.
The app keeps a backup of the previous save in case a file becomes corrupted, and it tells you when it has recovered from one. If your progress still does not come back, please contact us at the address below.
Change "Text size" in Settings to "Large" or "Extra large". This enlarges text throughout the app (it takes effect on the next screen you open).
Turn on "Colour-blind support" in Settings for a palette that stays distinguishable for people who find red and green hard to separate.
Turn on "Reduced motion" in Settings to tone down confetti, screen shake and scene transitions.
